Wooden to launch tour to highlight impact of treasurer
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The Democratic state treasurer candidate is planning to highlight how the treasurer can impact people's lives.
Shawn Wooden will launch his "Investing in the Right Priorities" tour over the next several weeks. He plans to highlight how the treasurer sits on numerous boards and commissions, such as Connecticut Innovations, that work to expand the state's economy. One planned stop is the Eastern Connecticut Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative Program at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich.
Wooden, an attorney, says "many people have no idea" the treasurer "does anything beyond managing the state's pension funds."
Money manager and Republican treasurer candidate Thad Gray vows on his campaign website to "manage state pension plans professionally to achieve the highest possible return" and make "sound investment decisions with no political or social agenda."
